FAQsWill they fit my house? How high up will an awning have to be fitted? As a rule of thumb, you will need 3 courses of bricks above the window to mount the brackets, although the awning only covers 2 courses. Most windows have sufficient room above them to accommodate this. Also bear in mind that there is 'drop' on the awning, so you need to ensure sufficient head clearance for this. Can the awning be adjusted to any angle? You can adjust the drop from anything between 0º to 63º. Can they be fitted to a bungalow or single storey extension?Provided there are several courses of bricks above the window there is sufficient room to fit an awning to any single storey building. It may need reinforcing plates to spread the load. We can even fit special plates which enables the awning to be fitted over the guttering should space be short. Are they suitable to go over an upstairs lounge? The simple answer is "yes", provided there are several courses of bricks above the window to give room for fitting. What if there is very little room between the top of the window and the roof line? There are special plates available which enable us to carry the awning over the guttering, which is a neat solution to this problem. How much overhang is needed either side of a window? The ideal is ½ metre, but we regularly go from 0 - 3-4 metres, depending on your requirements! How Far Out Do they go?This depends on the size of awning you choose. We can supply awnings with a projection of up to 7 metres if required, but this depends on the overall size of the awning. How big is the cassette? This ultimately depends on the size of the awning, but an average sizing is 150mm x 200 mm. It is very neat and unobtrusive when the awning is retracted. Do they operate by remote control?Yes, if you chose the motorized or sun and wind control option, a remote control comes as standard in order to operate the awning. How quickly can you fit the awning? Our normal supply and fit time is 3 weeks from confirmed order. What kind of guarantee do you offer? There is a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee from any corrosion or malfunction, in addition to a 10-year guarantee on the thread used to stitch the awning not rotting. Is the fabric water-proof?The fabric is water-resistant, which means it will keep you dry under showery conditions. Heavy rain will begin to penetrate after several hours. Unless you have a fully waterproofed finish (available at extra cost), no fabric will keep you dry from a sustained heavy downpour. What happens if I put the awning away wet?Should you retract the awning whilst it is wet, there is a brush system which removes most of the water as it is rewound. We do advise, however, that you air the awning later to ensure you get the maximum years of life out of your awning. All fabrics are mould and fungus resistant, so will not go green on you! Do you have integral lights fitted? No, we have chosen not to supply awnings fitted with integral lights, as none of those currently available are passing the necessary British Standards. The lights generally tend to be fairly poor quality and mean there is a lot more to go wrong with your awning. Until the technology has advanced somewhat, we have chosen to avoid this pitfall. Do you have to regularly oil the awning? No How does the sun and wind sensor work? When the sun comes out, the wireless sun sensor will automatically open the awning. If you have your awning out and the wind gets up the wind sensor will retract the awning before a problem occurs. What can confuse the issue is when there is a sunny but windy day! Whilst this doesn't happen often, it is usually best to leave the awning retracted on days like this. |
